Guitar Strap

Buddy boy, my little super star just turned 4 years old.  He's been asking for a guitar for a while now, and really didn't think he wanted one that bad.  So his birthday came and went without a guitar.  Until this past weekend when we got a surprise visit from Uncle Kurt and Fiance Laura who came with this fancy guitar for my little boy.  He totally was super excited about it.

He spent about four hours on Saturday just walking around banging it into my walls playing sweet tunes and not being able to keep a hold of it and play at the same time.  So down I went to the see what scrap pieces of fabric I had to make  him a strap.  I had some 2 1/2 inch binding strips left over from his bedding that I made him.  It was already cut out so it only took me about 10 minutes to sew it together.  I put little elastics on the end to tie on.  I realized once I had it done that the elastic was too loose so I did a back stitch on it so it would stay on the guitar and not fall off.  Don't you think this star fabric is perfect for my budding superstar?  I do.

Happy Birthday little buddy!!  Enjoy his first performance, I think it's super cute!

Angels Among us - RS Birthday Social

It's that special time of year again where we celebrate the organization of the Relief Society.  This was a special event for the women of our Church.  We had a planning meeting and decided to use the theme Angels Among Us that I found on Sugar Doodle.  Here is what we did.

We started out with a video presentation.  We played the song Angels Among us by Alabama in the back ground and we had a slide show running of all the women in our ward.  As sisters came into the room if we didn't have their picture, my sweet friend Lis quickly snapped it on her phone and added it to the presentation.  Thanks Lis for always doing my computer bidding.  Your the best.  It was really a lovely presentation.

Once we played the video we had dinner and let everyone mingle.  We had ham, scalloped potatoes, salads and desserts.  It was really a lovely evening.  Once we had everyone fed and happy we moved on to the program for the evening.  We had five women share something about someone else in the room, that had something nice or special for them.  We wanted to focus on the legacy that we share with these women.  In life it's not big things that matter most it's the little things that are really the big things.

My sweet friend Monica made each person a hand out to take home.  It was a 3 x 3 card with eight different quotes about being an angel or the influence we have to do good in this world.  It was a nice night of celebrating the women in our lives and the power we all have to do good.
